Frequently Asked Questions

When should i hire a doula?

It is ideal to hire a doula earlier on in your pregnancy. That way, it is more likely that your chosen doula will have availability. Anywhere from 12 weeks on is fine.

is a doula the same as a midwife?

A doula offers non-medical support, such as information and education, hands on comfort measures and other physical support, and emotional support and encouragement. Doulas support all kinds of births in all kinds of settings, as they work directly for birthing families. Midwives are highly skilled medical providers who provide prenatal care, catch babies, and provide postpartum medical care to parent and baby. While we often work together to support families, our roles look very different.

Does a doula replace my partner, friend, sister, mother?

Nope! Doulas are there to support you and those who you have chosen as your primary support. We never take the place of the person or people who love and know you best. We are there to support and enhance the experience for all involved. While we could never know you as well as your primary support/partner, we bring knowledge and experience to the table to fit seamlessly into the equation.

I am late into my pregnancy, is it too late to hire you?

Not necessarily. Sometimes I do have have last minute availability. It never hurts to ask. If I am unavailable, I am happy to help you find another doula.

what kind of births do you support?

While all doulas have their own styles of practice, I am happy to support births in a variety of settings. Home, birth center, or hospital. Under the care of midwives or doctors. I am here to support YOUR birth, wherever you choose that to be.

How many clients do you take per month?

A doula’s schedule is a dynamic thing! Depending on how many postpartum clients I have in a given month, I may take up to four birth clients. I usually have one or two postpartum clients per month. Sleep Training is available all month, just reach out!
